Sri Rama Navami the celebration of Auspicious Appearance day of Lord Rama the supreme personality of Godhead. In the ninth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra Lord Rama descends from the kingdom of God for material manifestation.

When the Personality of Godhead descends, he is called an incarnation, or avatar like Rama, Narashima, Varaha etc. There is a verse from Brahma-samhita [Bs. 5.39] in which the incarnation of Lord Ramacandra is described. Ramadi. Not only Rama, but there are many other, innumerable incarnations.

They are compared with the waves of a river. As the waves of the river or the waves of the ocean cannot be counted, similarly, how many incarnations are there of the Supreme Lord it is not possible to count.

Lord Ramacandra appeared on this planet, in the Treta-yuga more than two million years before on this planet. He appeared in Ayodhya in northern India. The life and activities of Lord Ramacandra are described in a book which is called Ramayana was written by great sage Valmiki.

It is stated in Bhagavad Gita 4.7 that Lord appears on schedule in every millennium although he is not obliged. Whenever there is a gross discrepancy in the matter of properly executing one’s dharma or eternal activities or Krsna Consciousness and the predominant rise of irreligiosity, at his free will Lord descends to reestablish the principle of religion.

The eternal Dharma or occupation of living entity to serve the Lord by engaging in devotional service as stated Lord Caitanya (Jivera svarupa hoy Krsnera nitya dasa). But we have forgotten our dharma and engaged in serving material things. We have become the servant of our mind, senses, boss, wife, children, lover, nation and so on so forth, which are superfluous to us.

As a result of misplaced service, we have been put in very precarious and miserable condition of material prison house undergoing the punishment of repeated birth and death. The whole purpose of the mission of incarnations is to arouse Kṛṣṇa consciousness everywhere so that living entities who are entrapped in material jail can be exonerated.

Festivals are very integral part of the temple to commemorate the transcendental past times of the Lord. Devotees of Sri Krishna Mandir celebrated Rama Navami by fasting till sunset, chanting the Holy Name of Lord Krishna and Rama, performing Abhishek of Lord and offering a variety of foodstuff to the Lord.
