The full moon on March 2nd marked the anniversary of the appearance day of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, the most munificent incarnation of Lord Sri Krishna. Vedic texts state that Lord Caitanya is the Supreme Person, Krishna, appearing as His own worshiper. He is the combined form of Krishna and Krishna’s most dear devotee, Srimati Radharani. He came to experience the love She feels for Him, and to show by example how to fully surrender to Krishna.
He exhibited symptoms of love of God to the highest degree and emphasized chanting the holy names of Krishna as the best means to attain love of God.
Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu appeared in Navadwip 532 years ago, he instructed his disciples to write books on the science of Krishna, a task which his followers have continued to carry out down to the present day. The elaboration and expositions of the philosophy taught by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu are in fact the most voluminous, exact and consistent, due to the system of disciplic succession.
Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu propagated the sankirtana movement, spreading the sublime chanting of Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare, as the only means for liberation in this age of Kali.
Devotees of Sri Krishna Mandir held an extravagant and jubilant celebration that boasted a rocking Kirtan and Abhishek in the temple. The crowd then poured downstairs to be wowed by the Sunday Children’s Class who sang the song Hari Haraye Namah Krsna Yadavaya Namah. This was followed by a lively and entertaining cultural show by the temples own Vaikuntha players depicting one of the pastimes of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu delivering the fallen souls of Kali Yuga.
After everyone was thoroughly entertained and enlightened by the evening show the finale brought an explosion to the tongue with a buffet of maha prasadam to please any palate.
